4th of July - Time to look back.
4th of July. Time to celebrate for many reasons, especially if you are American. For me, it's time to look back to my stay in this country. As you probably already know, I wasn't born here. I was born in Spain, Europe. I came here to study my senior year of college, and beside many other things that I discover that year, I found the love of my life in a farm boy from South Dakota.
We fell in love and after spending almost 2 years apart dating from Europe to here, we decided to get married.
I moved here, on July 11th 2011. Came here with just one suitcase, $3,000 in my pocket and the love of my life waiting for me at the Sioux Falls Airport. We lived in a tiny apartment by the mall. We basically shared a job that didn't even pay us. We had no property, no money and no idea where to start. But we had each other.
Fast forward 7 years. Today I have a wonderful job and I am basically living the real American Dream; yes, that one that you have heard of so many times!. We own a house. We have 2 beautiful and healthy children that keeps us busy and happy. We are still married. We are still in love; perhaps even more than 7 years ago.
July is always a special time for me. It symbolizes the time that my life changed. The time that I left everything I ever knew to move to a new country and start a crazy and strange new adventure. I guess that my point with this post is, that you never know where life is going to take you. So go with it and don't be scared. Enjoy the ride!
I love you July. You always bring good things with you.
Happy 4th of July everyone. Happy birthday America.
